EWWR 2021-22 - LITTERLESS CAMP...
Our younger students did a cleanup while on an outing. They were first shown around so that they could appreciate the beauty of nature, until they themselves noticed all the trash lying around. They did a very good job of cleaning up. But they ask: why don't people use bins to throw away their trash? Is that what they do in their homes? So please, they are pleading: USE TRASH BINS - do not spoil our countryside, our beaches! We already have little enough of them!
The Year 2 pupils first visited Dwejra Marine Environmental Education Centre, where they learnt about the beauty of marine life, and then went down to the beach to clean up, so that no marine creatures would be harmed by the trash people leave behind them. PLEASE USE TRASH BINS - we are killing God's creatures by our carelessness and indifference!
Year 1 students also had a clean up activity in the valley of Marsalforn.
Our Year 6 students continued working on their project of reducing the amount of used disposable masks discarded so irresponsibly everywhere - in streets, in the countryside, on beaches etc.. They met the Mayor of Victoria, and discussed with him what can be done to improve the situation. They also learnt how to sew cloth masks themselves so as to reduce the use of single-use masks. They visited pharmacies around the school and beyond, offering them labelled bins in which people could dispose of their masks. Their appeal on social media was that at least, if people are not ready to replace single-use masks with material ones, to please dispose of them responsibly!
